Kindhearted criminal, Jack, learns of his girlfriend Isabel’s assault by pimp Harlan Tripp and immediately seeks revenge, placing him in jail for 18 months. Upon his release, Jack meets Isabel’s eccentric new neighbor Campbell, a mysteriously gauzed man. Jack is later accosted by the criminal group of Chu Liang, an Asian mob boss, Harlan, and Guppy, a fellow ex-con on parole. Liang demands $20,000 from Jack for sending Harlan to the hospital. After Isabel’s co-worker Amber going missing, along with several other callgirls, Jack overhears Campbell is the one responsible so he opts to place surveillance on Campbell’s car and apartment, hoping to learn more and also rob him for the $20,000 when he’s not home. Jack notices Campbell drives to an isolated area for three hours a day and decides to figure out what he is up to. Jack discovers Campbell’s cabin where he is hiding several bodies and performing painful invisibility experiments on the still alive Amber. Jack escapes before Campbell can discover him and returns home to Isabel only to be met by police detective Stigler who seems to be investigating Campbell. Once he leaves, Jack and Isabel continue to surveille Campbell. Jack connects the dots and realizes Campbell is invisible. After escaping the wrath of his parole officer, Jack is cornered by Harlan and Guppy who attack him before being stopped by Stigler. During their altercation, Stigler is nonfatally shot by Harlan and Jack is able to knock both Harlan and Guppy out. Campbell has a breakthrough in his apartment while testing on another prostitute, Roz. Jack goes to Campbell’s cabin and steals his invisibility serum to turn Harlan invisible so he can dispose of his body with no problem. At the same time, Campbell hallucinates his dead wife and ends up killing Roz in his madness. Jack burns Campbell’s cabin down and is reunited with Isabel at a motel. The police, including Stigler, make it to the on-fire cabin, discovering the bodies along with Jack’s accidentally fallen cell phone. This makes them believe Jack is the culprit. Jack plans to return to get Campbell out of his apartment so Isabel can successfully rob him. Jack tries to trick Campbell by having Chu Liang and his gang ambush him, but Campbell sends an invisible Walter, Isabel’s landlord, in his place where he is fatally shot. Jack learns of this trick and runs to save Isabel with Chu Liang and the police now on his tail. Jack realizes the only way he can get to Isabel in time is to inject himself with Campbell’s invisibility serum he stole. Jack makes it to the apartment but not before Campbell can successfully turn himself visible and knock out Isabel. Campbell tries to fight invisible Jack but fails before he is shot by the police. Jack is able to sneak away with the duffel bag of stolen money. Jack and Isabel are able to pay Chu Liang. Jack remains invisible much to Isabel’s distaste.
