Couple SCOTT and CHRISTIE are attacked by an INTRUDER. Detectives BROWN and MORAN review the scene. Christie is vocal in wanting to move house and Moran suggests JANET MCKAY, a realtor he knows. While visiting houses, Scott explains to Janet he met Christie defending her when she was arrested for forming protest rallies. Janet brings them to a place in her own community. Their daughter AMY meets HEIDI, a local kid. Janet explains that the previous tenants weren’t a good fit. They meet Detective JOHN BREMMER, head of the local board and prior partner of Moran. While moving in, they meet HAROLD and RITA Steele who bring welcoming gifts and invites to a barbeque. Scott is struck by a sense of unease which is validated by seeing a figure in their yard in the night. At the barbeque, they meet other neighbours. The wives dismiss a planned protest against the visit of Senator KELLY, which Christie objects to. Scott breaks up the tense exchange. A drunk Moran tells them to get out while they can. Moran is killed on his way to speak to someone – shortly revealed to be FBI Agent FREDDIE DANIELS. Scott meets Daniels, who references four community deaths in the last eighteen months. He also discloses that the corporation that owns the estate has vested interest in all its residents’ businesses, bar him. Returning home, Scott’s revolutionary brother DARREN is visiting. Scott researches VOLTEX who own the estate and confronts Janet about the murder of the prior tenants. He is concerned that Amy is spending so much time with Heidi, and Christie is inducted into the cult-like behaviour. Invited to dinner at Bremmer’s, he finds spy cam photos of he and Christie. Daniels needs evidence to act upon. Following Bremmer, Scott sees him assault the Intruder. He brings photos to Brown. The Intruder kills Brown, and Bremmer then kills him in turn. When presented with evidence, Christie maintains he’s paranoid. Daniels breaks the news that Brown is dead. HICKOX, Kelly’s campaign manager attends a family event. A drunken Christie confronts him. Scott brings Christie home, and she accuses Scott of paranoia. He finds a bug in their home. Bremmer tries to justify his snooping by saying the community needs to vet residents. He leads Scott to a gathering where each household explains their losses. They justify their actions and threaten Amy if he doesn’t cooperate. He fails to prevent Christie attending the protest, knowing the community has malevolent involvement. Daniels labels Scott a security threat. Bremmer reveals his plan to blow up Kelly and pin it on Christie and her organised protest, so that Hickox will prevail. Scott manages to escape. Kelly is bundled away as the stage explodes. Bremmer’s community tries to escape by plane but Scott catches up with them. Darren and his revolutionaries record Bremmer’s admission in secret. After a scuffle, the FBI interject. Shortly, Scott and his family skip town.
