Director's statement:
Like Nothing is a film about connection in its quietest, most fragile form. I was drawn to the idea that two people who would normally pass each other without a word could profoundly change one another simply by choosing to spend time together. The film explores how relationships don’t have to last forever to matter and sometimes the briefest encounters leave the deepest impact.
At its core, this story asks what it means to be seen. Marty looks at this stranger named Kyle with curiosity and belief, while Kyle slowly begins to see value in himself through Marty’s presence. I wanted the audience to feel how even the most unexpected bond can interrupt isolation and create meaning where there once felt like nothing.
Visually, the film moves from a handheld documentary style to cinematically shot short film, mirroring Kyle's own internal shift from detachment to awareness. This shift reveals how connection can quietly transform someone who once felt invisible into someone who begins to recognize their own place in the world.
