Talia is a young, orthodox jewish woman living in present day New York. As she disrobes before a Jewish Mic Vah (baptismal ritual), her inquisitive Shomeret, Dalia, notices bruises on her body. It is here that we begin our journey with Talia that unfolds in two timelines. The first is Talia’s religious upbringing and past in college and the other are the events taking place in present day. We witness the horrific physical, sexual, emotional, and verbal abuse that she receives at the hands of her husband, Amnon. We also see her time in college where she befriends a free spirited artist named Jackie. Their relationship quickly turns romantic. It is in this time that Talia battles to reconcile her Orthodox Jewish upbringing, her religious studies and the love that is blossoming between her and Jackie. In the present day, with her life on the line and with the help of Dalia, Talia decides to leave her husband. It is that decision, combined with introspection into her past with Jackie, and her present time with Dalia, that Talia discovers the strength to stand up to her husband one last time.
