A24 Takes Elden Ring to AFM on a Reported $175M to $200M Budget

Summary

Amazon MGM has reportedly bought a broad set of international streaming rights, while A24 fully finances Alex Garland's adaptation for a March 3, 2028 release.
"A24 will bring Alex Garland's Elden Ring to next month's American Film Market with a budget that Deadline, citing unnamed sources, reported at $175 million to $200 million, closer to the top of that range. Deadline called it the biggest-budget standalone project ever offered at a film or TV market. A24, Amazon and the producers declined to comment.
Deadline reported that Amazon MGM has acquired a large slate of international pay-one streaming rights in a deal worth tens of millions of dollars, while A24 continues to fully finance the film. The Wall Street Journal earlier put the budget near $200 million, and Deadline noted that A24's previous most expensive film, Marty Supreme, cost about $70 million. A24 has flown staff to international buyers so they can read the script, reported to run at least 180 pages, in a supervised setting.
Garland wrote and directed the adaptation of the FromSoftware game, which has sold more than 30 million copies. Kit Connor leads a cast that includes Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Jonathan Pryce and Nick Offerman. The film has wrapped and is in post-production with Industrial Light & Magic, with release set for March 3, 2028 in theaters and IMAX."
