Ben Wheatley Takes Over Molepeople as Stanfield and Savage Exit

Summary

Rob Savage stays on as an executive producer after scheduling conflicts pulled him off the subway horror film, which keeps its August 27, 2027 release date.
"Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Paramount's subterranean horror film Molepeople has a new director and has lost its lead. Variety and Deadline reported on October 28 that Ben Wheatley (""Normal"") will direct, replacing Rob Savage, who exited because of scheduling conflicts, and that LaKeith Stanfield is no longer attached. Variety did not report a reason for Stanfield's departure.
Savage remains an executive producer alongside Ryan Turek, Tracy Rosenblum and screenwriter Nathan Elston, who stays on as writer. Jason Blum produces for Blumhouse Atomic Monster with J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of Paramount Primal and James Harris. The two companies co-finance, and Paramount distributes worldwide.
The film follows a man who descends into abandoned tunnels beneath New York City and finds a hidden society living under the streets. It was unveiled earlier this month at Blumhouse Atomic Monster's New York Comic Con panel, where Stanfield and Ben Mendelsohn were announced as stars, and it remains dated for August 27, 2027."
