Waititi's Klara and the Sun hits 20% on RT with modest tracking.

Summary

Sony's adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel, starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams, drew one-star notices from British critics after its London premiere.
"Sony's Klara and the Sun, Taika Waititi's adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's 2021 novel, opens in U.S. theaters on Friday, October 23, after a rough critical reception. Following its October 15 world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, the film opened with a 20% Rotten Tomatoes score from its first 10 reviews and a Metacritic score of 23 from six, Comic Basics reported, calling it the lowest-rated film of Waititi's career.
The Guardian gave it one star and called it ""unbearably mannered,"" and The Times also gave it one star, calling it ""hopeless,"" according to Comic Basics. The Playlist's Rodrigo Perez graded it D+ on October 20, writing, ""It's easily Waititi's worst film,"" while adding that ""Ortega, thankfully, fares considerably better."" The cast includes Jenna Ortega as the artificial companion Klara, Mia Tharia, Amy Adams and Aran Murphy.
Boxoffice Pro's long-range forecast had the film opening at $6 million to $10 million. It opens the same weekend as Warner Bros.' Clayface, Laika's Wildwood and Amazon MGM's Ali G: Who Iz I?. Waititi told Inverse on October 19 that his long-planned Star Wars film has been put on hold."
