Skydance Now Has to Figure Out How to Release 30 Movies a Year

By Kinolime Editorial Team // Verified Human Journalist Review

Summary

Warnamount was the easy part. Now Skydance has to figure out how two massive movie studios can actually operate under the same roof.
Skydance's new film operation includes Paramount, Warner Bros., New Line, DC Studios, Republic Pictures, Paramount Primal, Clockwork and three animation operations. David Ellison has committed the company to releasing 30 films annually, eventually increasing that number to 32. Film chiefs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein now have to integrate Warner's existing slate into Paramount's pipeline without competing releases cannibalizing one another. It's one of the largest theatrical slates ever managed by a single Hollywood company.

The interesting question isn't just whether Skydance makes fewer movies after the merger. For filmmakers, the bigger issue is what kinds of movies fill those 30 slots and how much room remains for originals alongside franchises, animation and established IP.
