As serious solutions for global warming take hold, Franco-American JACQUES LONGCHAMP’s company discovers organic biomass that grows in the dark by consuming oxygen from H2O, leaving “white” hydrogen. In 2037, he decides to give unlimited, perpetual energy to the countries most affected by climate change and hunger. This triggers a global conflict in the Arctic that leads to submarine warfare under the icecap, lethal attacks on scientists, international intrigue, and political posturing. Manipulating the marionettes is the GLOBAL ELECTRICITY CONSORTIUM (GEC), an OPEC-like kingmaker that profits by selling excess electricity across borders, which controls the growth of nations.
Long before at Cambridge University, Jacques makes hydrogen his mission and meets his future wife, EMANI NOOR AHMADI, who has a photographic memory. During his military service in Ukraine, Jacques is saved by HANS, a German who becomes his head of security. They save the life of YURI who'll help Jacques buy Arctic mining rights. After building his team, Jacques builds enormous wealth by localizing simple hydrogen production at gas stations. His goal is to be loved by all by exceeding his father's accomplishments in making the world a better place.
As the Arctic thaws, eight nations of the Arctic Council monetize its mining resources, freshwater, and shortened shipping routes. To become the ninth Arctic nation and get a share, China offers vaccines for emerging permafrost viruses. But Russia wants China to buy Yakutsk. To ensure that happens, Russians kill Chinese researchers but carry a lethal virus home to Russia. Meanwhile, the consumption of the Arctic is opposed by the INUIT people who want an independent, sovereign state. Their advocate proclaims, “Greenland could be to the Inuit what Israel is to the Jewish.”
As success and obstacles increase for Jacques, his father lies dying in a Paris hospital and his wife and children want him at home. Emani cautions, “I don't want you to miss the rainbows by chasing windmills.”
After revealing his charitable plan on U.N.T.V. and being summoned to the White House in a near-fatal failure to communicate, Jacques and his team must survive an all-out assault on their company, their lives, and the energy-producing biomass by a corrupt U.S. President and the GEC. Says Jacques, “You can't control events in life, only how you react to them.”
Jacques’s sole lobbyist, SIR JONATHAN, with the guidance of the U.N. SECRETARY-GENERAL and Norway’s PRIME MINISTER, scrambles to do a deal with CHINA’s U.N. AMBASSADOR that the PRC President can announce at their 5-year Chinese Communist Party Conference. Says Sir Jonathan, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Having avoided war, reduced climate change, and improved fuel, food, and housing for many nations and people, and knowing he now has a target on his back, Jacques realizes that true love is at home with his family. Jacques concludes, “Aimer et être aimé, c'est tout ce qui compte” - To love and be loved is all that matters.
