Cryptozoologist Dr. Kate Sheffield and her nonbinary, neurodivergent work partner, Sam, are obsessively focused to discover the existence of Bigfoot as the “missing link” or more appropriately a “Ghost Species” of evolution. Kate’s ex- boyfriend, detective Connor Wolf aids them in their quest, as unanswered questions of childhood trauma are revealed by the sudden appearance of Kate’s mother Jean, after a 20-year absence. Sexual abuse, self-identity issues, and an elusive monster in the woods creates confusion, conflict, and intertwining hope, as Kate searches for the truth inside long-held beliefs.
