Arya, a warmhearted, rule-bending genie, lives in a realm where humans are loathed and ridiculed. Granting wishes isn’t just tradition, it’s essential to a genie’s survival.
But Arya is different.
She sympathizes with humans, a trait that puts her at odds with the Council, where she holds a seat. Her compassion draws the ire of Shamp, a conniving genie who once loved Arya’s mother. Through his nephew, Frankie Faboo, who is equal parts Vegas magician and interdimensional nuisance, they accuse her of violating the sacred code and challenge her loyalty.
Arya is given one final chance: grant three wishes to a human without interference. Succeed, and she keeps her place on the council. Fail, and she could be banished… or worse, corked.
But Arya doesn’t realize it’s all a setup. Things go sideways when she grants the wishes to the wrong twin: Norm, a self-centered man obsessed with attention, food, and women.
When Arya discovers he isn’t Philip, the true intended recipient, a kind-hearted introvert still reeling from a recent divorce, she panics. Desperate to undo the damage, she turns to Philip, who, in a rare moment of boldness, whisks her away to safety.
Back in the genie realm, the magical world erupts in celebration over Arya’s apparent success. But Shamp is reeling. Two wishes granted. No signs of interference. His perfect trap is unraveling. Desperate, he summons Frankie Faboo, demanding reassurance that everything is still under control.
What Shamp doesn’t know is that Faboo has already botched it, spectacularly.
Meanwhile, in the human world, Arya devises a plan with Philip’s help. She reveals the truth behind genie magic; wishes are taken from others who already possess them. A wish for fame, wealth, or freedom means someone else loses theirs.
Philip is horrified. Especially when he learns that Norm’s final wish, could destroy someone’s life, or land Norm in prison.
The plan to deliver Norm’s third wish unfolds at Philip’s divorce hearing, a simple, setup centered around food and drink, practically guaranteed to lure Norm in. And it works, sort of.
But then, something strange happens: Norm asks Arya to join him and Philip for a coffee… and she agrees. Was it just a friendly gesture, or another wish?
Arya returns to the genie realm, where a massive celebration is held in her honor. But the joy doesn’t last. Panic erupts. Genies begin to vanish. Wishes across the realm activate uncontrollably, burning through the stockpile of stored wishes at an alarming rate.
Sensing weakness, Shamp seizes the moment, declaring Arya’s failure and positioning himself to take power once and for all.
In a climactic showdown, Arya must defend not just her actions, but her very identity. With the magical world on the brink of collapse, she defies protocol and chooses empathy over obedience, granting a final wish that restores balance… but at a personal cost.
Yet the Grand Council sees something unexpected, not failure, but transformation. Arya may never fit the mold, but perhaps that’s exactly what the Realm needs.
