Elimelech is a student at an Orthodox school in Israel, part of which is strict adherence to a moral code that includes not touching women. He small group of friends and classmates spend their time studying, planning activities and debating the virtues and ethics of the school to which they attend and the religion they espouse. They do this all under the watchful eye of a hard line Rabbi named Gluestein. Elimelech is filled with self doubt and struggles with his own religious and personal identity. This leads to time spent alone and a longing to venture out to travel. Elimelech wants to visit the city of Eliat. With no one to go with him, he decides to lie to his Rabbi and follow his adventurous spirit. As he takes the bus to the city, he meets a young woman named Devorah. While she is attending a seminary school, Deborah is completely opposite of Elimelech. She is brash and pushes the boundaries. While different, they both have an excitement for life that is equal and they bond over that excitement of seeing new things and traveling. There is also a palpable chemistry between them. After helping Elimelech check into a hotel, Devorah leaves. Thus begins Emimelech’s infatuation with and search for her. Here turns to the school and is admonished by his friends to put his focus and energy back into his faith and studies. Upon venturing out in his search again, Elimelech meets Jacobo, a carefree young man from South America who introduces him to American movies and guides him on his quest to find Devorah and discover who he really is.
