Based on a true story, Fordlândia reflects on Henry Ford's attempt to turn the Amazon rainforest into his own personal rubber production factory. Told through the eyes of a cog in his machine, a Scandinavian immigrant, the family man is thrust into an unfamiliar continent, culture, and set of responsibilities. These facets begin to erode his personality, ambitions, and morals as the capitalist machine grinds him down - transforming more than just the jungle landscape.
