Environmentalist Helen Engel’s life is suddenly turned upside down when she learns her husband is not who she thought he was. Through a police investigation on both sides of the Atlantic, she gradually learns that in reality he is a paid assassin who has to flee their home, New York City, after he executes a hit there. He sells their apartment and kidnaps her dog in the process.
In the midst of her personal crisis, she must continue her fight to save the planet from certain destruction from climate change. She does all she can to stop the destruction of the Brazilian rain forest, lobbying the United Nations to put an end to the deforestation, with little hope of success.
She takes matters into her own hands when her husband goes to Britain with her dog, Woody. Scotland Yard has launched a manhunt for him, but she doesn’t believe they have any interest in her dog so she goes on a dog hunt.
She rescues her dog and leaves her husband for the police. In the process, she learns that yes, her husband is an assassin, but that his victims are all environmental criminals, who face no risk of receiving punishment. When she returns home to New York, she realizes her efforts to save the planet are a failure and she is forced to continue her husband’s war against the climate criminals.
