Set in a city terrified by a string of violent homicides committed by an infamous serial murderer known only as the Crimson Killer, In the Company of Mad Men tells the story of Jake Valentine, an ex-cop, turned journalist, who after years of obsessive investigation finally catches and kills the elusive murderer. His death gives birth to powerful visions accompanied by powerful urges, urges to kill people Jake has never met. When Jake resists these dark impulses, someone he cares about dies without warning. It is soon apparent that Jake is forced to choose between killing random strangers or allowing those he loves to die. Ravaged by guilt and homicidal tendencies Jake must find out what is causing these visions and how to stop them, before he loses everyone he cares about or joins the Company of Mad Men.
