Director's statement:
Dear Kino, I dedicate this screenplay to my experiences as an adolescent trying to grapple with the changes around me, not knowing where to look to for the direction towards where life should be. This screenplay is very personal to me, as the qualities of the three titular character are qualities, that when parceled, are within me. The characters, too, are based off of people I actually know, and many of these experiences that the characters undergo within this screenplay are things I have experienced myself and assume countless other people have as well—lapses of human confusion in its purest form.
This screenplay is meant to take place in a town that wouldn’t pull in many tourists, it is particularly based off where I've been raised and have grown in all my life, Memphis, Tennessee. The writing in this deals with subject matter the masses of mainstream filmography isn't willing to address, as this is meant to be a commentary on societal norms, and what this screenplay intends to do is break those norms.
