"My Last" is a high-concept time-loop comedy that follows Mina, a high school student trapped in a repetitive, tragic cycle. Bored by her mundane routine, which includes a monotonous teacher and gossip-obsessed friends, Mina’s life takes a surreal turn when she visits the "East West Bookstore." There, a mysterious clerk named Annie gifts her an antique watch, claiming it is for whoever believes that time loops are real.
The loop begins on a Friday. Mina witnesses a violent confrontation between her friend Aaron and a volatile student named Micah near the school’s water fountain. The situation escalates when Aaron, who has a severe peanut allergy, accidentally consumes a nougat bar and dies while Micah refuses to help. Overwhelmed by grief and shock, Mina suddenly finds herself waking up at the start of the same Friday.
Initially confused, Mina attempts to change the outcome, but her efforts are clumsy. In one loop, she tries to warn Aaron, but he dies anyway. In another, she becomes so disheveled and frantic from the repeated trauma that she is viewed as a "psycho" by her peers. Each time Aaron dies, the loop resets.
Driven to a breaking point, Mina returns to the bookstore to confront Annie. She realizes that the watch isn't just a curse; it’s a tool for intervention. Armed with the knowledge of exactly when and where the "butterfly effect" occurs, Mina intervenes in the final loop. She stops the fight before it starts, prevents Aaron from eating the nougat candy (which has milk and Aaron is allergic to), and replaces the dangerous water fountain encounter with a moment of peace.
The story concludes with the loop finally breaking. Mina sits on her usual bench, no longer bored but deeply grateful to be surrounded by her friends. Even something as boring as making instant coffee was the most fun she ever had.
