Our story opens in a neon throwback Roller Skating Rink in Austin, Texas where a man is beaten to death by three masked killers for going too far with a woman. This sets the stage for us to meet our protagonist EMILY, a rookie FBI fresh out of Quantico with a chip on her shoulder. She’s given her first case, the previous murder, and assigned a veteran agent as her partner, ANITA CAPOZZA. Her superior officer RICK FOSTER makes it easy for her “Solve the crime, arrest the killer, be the hero.” The new partners decide to go undercover at the Roller Rink that night, where the alcoholic Anita causes a scene with BETH, a short tempered skater who Emily learns is part of Roller team, The Tko’s. Beth becomes the case’s prime suspect. The partners go to their first Roller Derby Bout, Emily is hooked and decides to go undercover and try out for the TKO’s.
The girls respond to a new murder, where we meet SHERIFF THOMAS CADY. Later, Emily fails to make the TKO's, but impresses BAMA who invites her to join her team, THE SEXYBACKS. Emily sees the latest victim has ended up on the news, causing Rick to put pressure on the girls. A post mortem mark found on the latest victim's body helps to filter which cold cases are connected to theirs. After winning her first Roller Derby bout in dramatic fashion, Bama takes Emily to a secluded half pipe, where she helps train Emily. During the session Bama talks about her past, including sexual assault, Emily realizes she missed that connection between her victims. This leads to the discovery that each victim was accused, but not convicted of sexual assault. Using this they find the killers next potential victim, the Mayor’s son. A trio of masked killers follow him home, only to be stopped by Anita who shoots one in the shoulder. Emily convinces Rick to give them twenty four hours to positively ID the killers, fearing her new teammates could get caught in the TKO‘s crosshairs.
Emily, Anita and Thomas run surveillance at the Sexybacks bout with the TKO’s. All eyes are on the TKO’s when….one of the Sexybacks arrives with a shoulder injury! Emily has a panic attack. In the ER, Emily come to the realization that the killers are the Sexybacks. The teams are having a party at Bama’s house, Emily and Anita bring in SWAT and arrest all of the Sexybacks except for Bama, who Emily let’s escape. Later, Emily gets a ride home from Sheriff Cady, who forces himself onto Emily. Emily is saved by Bama, who fatally shoots the Sheriff. Emily is given the medal of valor for her assault, but in a move to protect one of their own, the FBI decide against releasing Sheriff Cady’s name to the press. A now mature and less eager Emily goes back to Bama’s secret half pipe, where she meets someone off screen holding Bama’s signature white roller skates.
