Cushioned by wealth and privilege, septuagenarian Mildred considers her life the embodiment of god's will on earth. But when Mildred accidentally kills her pastor the fantasy crumbles. She meets a flamboyant young man who's hedonistic disregaurd for all that is sacred forces her to reevaluate. The playful tone of their relationship counterbalanced by a seemingly ruthless universe conspiring against them, forcing them to bond in their pursuit of a meaningful existence.
As a writer, my childhood experience of religion had a profound affect on me. My parents were born in England, my mother raised Evangelical Christian and my father Catholic. They met at college studying Hebrew and got married after converting to orthodox Judaism together! Then, perhaps influenced by the alignment of stars - their reasoning isn't clear, they moved to northern Scotland, the most secular place in the world...
Growing up in this religeous isolation planted a deep rooted discontedness in me and as a young man it led me on a hedonistic search for meaning that culminated in daily drug use and an ever widening gulf between spirituality and reality.
I hope this has peaked your interest. I've come to approach writing in the gonzo style, reporting on the state of the human condition whilst revelling in the absurdity our lives!
