Director's statement:
This project is very special to me. I intended to create a story that shows off the experiences of high schoolers in the bay area. The characters are motivated by a desire to enjoy their time in high school, enjoy their relationships, and make a name for themselves. With the imminent end of their school and the approaching prospect of post-high-school life, each character responds differently. Jay raises money for college by participating in underground high-school fighting rings. Hops throws himself into Abby, devoting himself to her beyond what he should for his own benefit. Abby struggles to find a solid sense of her identity. They each have interesting and complex relationships with each other, much like the ones found in high school. It was very important to me to portray a sense of community that has support and love but also has brewing tensions and anger between community members.
