Set in Manhattan, 11-year old Tyler Thompson, who is on the autism spectrum, lives with his mother, Jess, and is often victimized by jokes from typical school bullies. Thanks to best friends, Alex and Abdo, Tyler’s school situation is bearable. When Tyler’s beloved grandfather has a sudden heart attack at an Award Ceremony, Tyler is unexpectedly tasked with assuming his grandfather’s position at his esteemed Toy company, The Toy Palace. After much encouragement from his mother, grandfather and closest friends, Alex and Abdo, Tyler agrees to pursue the position. Despite immediate and sustained opposition from Creative Team member, Mr. Adams, Tyler is able to harness his gifted, creative design mind to make notable strides in the company. In addition to new Toy Palace storefronts and a business office, Tyler is able to initiate the creation of four new toy lines, three of which support individuals with diverse disabilities. He is even able to commit to further support for accessibility at NYC’s MTA. Just when everything seems perfect, the company begins to unravel when unexpected financial woes become apparent and the company is at risk for bankruptcy. With his own investigative and off-the-chart memory skills and the help of loyal friends Alex and Abdo, Tyler is able to reveal the insidious and shocking causes of the financial strain and determines how to not only ameliorate the Toy Palace’s financial challenges, but also how to bring the secret perpetrators to justice. The film ends with an epic fourth of July celebration, fireworks and all!
