Roy, a sharp and outspoken seventeen-year-old atheist, openly rejects the Christian faith of
his parents and friends. He mocks prayer, dismisses God as imaginary, and prides himself
on believing only what he can see. His closest friend, Vick, once believed too, until a
childhood tragedy shattered his faith. After encountering a mysterious man in a white cloak
as a boy, Vick lost his mother in a horrific car accident following one of her seizures. From
that day forward, he stopped believing.During Vick’s birthday party, after heavy drinking
and dancing, Vick collapses in the bathroom from a violent seizure. As Roy desperately
holds him, Vick sees the same white-cloaked figure from his childhood and whispers that
“Jesus is real.” Roy sees nothing. Vick dies shortly after in the hospital. At the funeral, Roy is
devastated. On the way home, he encounters an old woman dressed in black,Helen
Hale, rumored to be the “Witch of Slavania,” accused years earlier of attempting to
resurrect her dead twin daughters in a ritual that ended in fire and their deaths. Haunted by
grief and Vick’s final words, Roy researches her and discovers chilling accounts: she
claimed the ritual briefly worked, but demanded a cost.Grief overrides reason and Roy
decides to find her
Roy tracks Helen to her isolated forest home. After being caught in one of her traps, he begs
her to bring Vick back. Inside her ritual-filled house, she senses something “rare” in him,a
loyal and compassionate soul. She agrees to perform the ritual, but only in exchange for his
soul.Roy, still dismissing the spiritual realm as mythology, mockingly agrees. He offers
Vick’s engraved bangle as a personal connection for the ritual. Helen begins chanting,
invoking an unseen entity and declaring that life cannot return without payment. The ritual
intensifies. The atmosphere shifts. Something responds. But nothing returns.Instead, the
presence demands fulfillment of the pact. Roy begins to understand too late, that itwas
never about resurrecting Vick,it was about claiming him
Roy realizes he has been deceived. Resurrection through darkness was never restoration,it
was a transaction. He cannot outsmart what he never believed in.As the spiritual
consequences close in, Roy is forced to confront the reality he denied. In his desperation,
he cries out,not to the witch, but to the God he rejected.A man in white appears revealing
that Vick’s final words were true.Roy’s disbelief brought him to darkness, but surrender
leads him to his first true encounter with faith
