Director's statement:
"...Yet We Live" is a work born out of observation, and love for the place I call home, North Cyprus. I wanted to create something local, not in a touristic or nostalgic sense, but something that speaks directly to the internal lives of people here. The script explores how tightly we cling to routine, how we resist the unknown, and what happens when the foundations of our identity begin to dissolve.
This project questions whether our perception of reality is a shared truth or a collective illusion. I used surreal and experimental elements to disturb linear time, collapse presence and absence, and blur the roles of audience and performer. As characters vanish and reality fractures, the story becomes a meditation on denial, belief, and cultural inertia.
The style is intentionally theatrical, ambiguous, and unstable, I want the audience to feel slightly disoriented, just like the characters. It’s a film about endings, arrivals, and the question of whether we ever truly change.
