Director's statement:
I'm a writer/director/producer/editor residing in Queens. Three years ago, my wife gave birth to our wonderful daughter, which has been the greatest joy in my life. However, being a parent cuts into our creative time. So, the two of us try to carve out one weekend a year to make a short on a shoestring budget with friends. First, was the domestic drama "Dungeons” in 2022. Then, made the film-festival satire "We Regret To Inform You" in ’23. Last year was the absurd yet paranoid "Michael C. Jordan Theory." This year's, "Just Jokes," is about a roast battle gone wrong. “Space Babes is the screenplay I'm submitting for 2026.
“Space Babes” holds a near and dear place in my heart. This is a movie I wrote way back in 2010 and is a love letter to my days discovering flicks at my local Blockbuster. Stuff like “Night at the Roxbury,” “Happy Gilmore” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer” would play in heavy rotation. Obviously, the story here is ridiculous but I think if this movie was made with loving care and not rushed due to budgetary constraints, could be something really special. Heartwarming, down-to-earth and potentially magical like a warm summer’s night.
