Officer Bradley of the redwood county pd is called in to work on his day off by his boss due to people calling out sick. Annoyed, he goes in and is partnered with a rookie officer, An Officer Price. They are sent to a man who is manic and threatening to kill his neighbors. When they arrive at the house they learn more about each other highlighting prices in experience. As they approach the home they see the man looks ill with a bandaged arm. When they try to convince him to come out he becomes aggressive. Forcing Bradley and Price to enter the home. Price is told to take a beanbag shotgun. The man tries to attack Bradley but Price shoots him twice with the shotgun and they arrest the man. After they clear the home Bradley calls for backup to transport the man to the station because he can’t. Backup soon arrives and the officer and Bradley think the man's behavior is drug related. Bradley and Price are later called to another home for a wellness check. A neighbor heard fighting and screaming coming from the home. They start to head over and as they drive Bradley and Price get to talking. Price reveals that he likes the job but it's more stressful than he imagined. Being a little shaken over him having to shoot someone with nonlethal. Bradley hears this and gives some advice. Telling Price he needs thick skin for a job like this otherwise it would eat him alive. They soon arrive at the home and Bradley gives Price the chance to take the lead. They approach the home and announce themselves and hear nothing. Price picks the door and they enter the dark home. They use flashlights and see a man laying on the ground. As Bradley goes to provide aid, Price sees a bite on the man. Price's train of thought is broken by a noise down the hall. He shines his light down to see an injured man who calls for help. He is suddenly attacked by an ill looking woman and Price has to kill her, as Bradley tries to call for backup when the radio is down. Another loud noise comes from the hall. Bradley is busy with the man on the floor as he starts to convulse. He forces Price to check it out. Price investigates the noise when he is suddenly attacked by an infected man. As he retreats he notices the man from before is convulsing, just like the man on the ground he realized they were both bit. Price is too late to warn Bradley and he is killed when the man wakes up and attacks him. Price hides in a room and tries to call for help but the only reply is an automated message declaring a state of emergency and he is killed. the infected come out of the house. Several military messages show the military failed to stop the virus.
